Standing Rules of ATHEN
Resolved: The annual meeting of ATHEN will be held at the Accessing Higher Ground (AHG) conference
Resolved: The following definitions apply:
- Access Technology
- Any assistive technology, accessible information technology, or alternate media that can be used to facilitate the success of individuals with disabilities
- Assistive Technology
- Products, devices, or equipment, whether acquired commercially, modified, or customized, that is used to maintain, increase, or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities.
- Higher Education
- Post-K-12, post-secondary, further education, college, university, or equivalent
Resolved: In addition to its primary purpose, ATHEN may wish to pursue the following activities:
- Develop and share AT training materials and recommend core-curriculum
- Promote development of AT degree programs
- Promote and advocate for development of accessible information technology (IT)
- Develop professional standards of practice for AT in higher education
- Work towards development of a credentialing process for AT in higher education
